Looking To Start A Habit? But It Isn’t New Year Yet!

I dislocated my shoulder on Rosh Hashanah 2020.

Not the best start to the new year, and COVID has made it even worse. It would have been devastating if I had waited for 2020 to start a lot of decisions for the new year. The bad start was just another reason for inaction.

We look forward to the new year to create habits from life years; For the smaller ones, we are looking forward to Monday; For the rest, we’re looking forward to tomorrow.

You do not need a new year or Monday or tomorrow. Start now.

While this was not the perfect start, 2020 was good in many other ways. I crossed my first 1000 subscriptions on YouTube, monetized my channel, and received the Microsoft Most Valued Professional Award (MVP). I do set annual goals (currently trying quarterly goals), but I did not go into all of this definition of New Year’s resolution. I feel it is overrated and destined to fail. Starting unnecessary from one new habit on a particular day, to me, is a recipe for failure.

If you want to change something in your life, Start now.

The minimum you can do is plan the next immediate step that needs to be done for everything you want to do. Lock it in your calendar. Set a reminder.

Start small, start today, start now.
