June 01, 2021 –1 Reading minutes
I always have several projects progressing in parallel.
Anything that takes more than an hour or two is a project for me. The project has several stages and needs a number of work sessions. It usually takes me more than a day to complete a project. A blog post, a YouTube video, reading a book, running a half marathon, etc., are all examples of a project.
It’s boring for me to do only one thing. Often for projects, different activities are involved; Research, reading, making contact with other people, etc. Only one project forces me to block myself and get bored easily.
Multitasking is bad; Multi Projects is approved.
With multiple projects, when I get bored or get stuck with one, I move on to the other. I have a weekly plan of what to do for the week. But then I keep the daily planning loose, allowing me to switch between the various items I need to perform during the week.
A high-level weekly program ensures that I do not skip tasks because I am lazy or procrastinating on difficult things. I try to plan the day before the high level things I want to work on the next day. But again, use this as a guide. If I find myself bored or not interested in working on it, I catch something else that aligns with the weekly goal.
There is a plan. Be flexible.
